The Government of Goa appointed Shri Justice B. Sudershan Reddy, retired Hon’ble Supreme Court Judge as the First Goa Lokayukta to the Institution of Goa Lokayukta in March 2013. The Institution of Goa Lokayukta actually started functioning from 3rd April 2013, in the premises located at State Guest House, Altinho, Panaji-Goa.
However, after functioning for about six months, the Hon’ble Lokayukta resigned on 19/10/2013. The post of Lokayukta remained vacant for two and half years. On 28/04/2016, Justice Shri P.K.Misra, a retired Chief Justice of Patna High Court took oath on 28/04/2016 as the second Lokayukta for the State of Goa. He continued to be Goa Lokayukta till 17/09/2020.
The new office of the Institution of Goa Lokayukta at 1st floor of the annexe building, Old GMC, Ribandar Goa was inaugurated on 26th January 2018 at the hands of Shri Manohar Parrikar, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa.
After successfully completing the tenure by Justice Shri P.K. Mishra as Goa Lokayukta, the said post remained vacant for almost seven months. Later on the day of 07th May 2021, Hon’ble Justice (Retired) Shri Ambadas Haribhau Joshi was sworn in by His Excellency the Honourable Governor of Goa through brief oath ceremony held online at Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula-Goa as 3rd Goa Lokayukta. Hon’ble Justice Shri Ambadas Haribhau Joshi is retired Judge of the Bombay High Court and also served as the Chairman of the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal, Mumbai for the period from July 2014 to July 2019.
